NEW IN THE SHOP!!!

So, I have had some nice, sunny days and good natural light so I've been busy making Pandora style bead sets and bracelets with an eye towards spring colors and color combinations.  Today I listed about half of what I've made so far, and tomorrow I will list the rest.

I've also started to get deliveries of leather and clasps, so I've been able to make several triple wraps with toggle or lobster claw clasp closures, and in today's mail there was faux snakeskin and Regaliz leather all the way from Greece, and more clasps and tube beads which I am anxious to make into something beautiful.  I also got a bunch of new Pandora style lampwork beads that I am anxious to make into sets and bracelets. Yes, I am going to be kept busy for some time to come.

I HEART LEATHER!!!!!!

 

 

If I sound enthusiastic it's because I am. I've been ordering all kinds of leather and leather findings recently - it's time for me to get back into making leather bracelets again.  I am planning on making all kinds of bracelets in all the colors of the rainbow as soon as supplies arrive.  And I've been thinking of a new approach - making a sample and then offering that sample in different colors and sizes - as they say, variety IS the spice of life!

I am thinking personalized also, as in names or whatever saying/phrase/word you would like.  I am also thinking braided bolo and smooth round leather wraps, all kinds of fancy buckles, and end caps with fancy lobster claw clasps, toggle clasps  and charms.    The photos shown here are all good examples of what I am thinking of making.

 

 

 

 

In closing, I know I have been long in making blog entries, but it is always on my mind.  It comes down to how much time (and energy!!) I have.  Right now it's a bit slow, and it's Sunday - a day I try to devote to doing nothing except what I WANT to do. Period!  Well, except for getting orders ready for Monday mail.  But this Monday is President's Day and there is no mail so WOOOOTT!!!!!!!! Monday holidays are the best!

SO HERE WE GO AGAIN....

You probably have heard about the killer nor'easter snow storm that is bearing down on New England as I write this - here on the Island we are slated to get as much as 18" tonight.  The snow is supposed to start around 6pm, with blizzard white out conditions developing around 8pm, and will continue until around 1pm Saturday. 

*sigh*  Oh, ick.

I really do hate the snow that is so pretty to look at but is such a beast to shovel.  It's easier being retired, and I could just hibernate until it all melts in a month, but I need to get out and if I don't dig myself out the snow will ice over and then I'll really be stuck.  Blech.

But what really scares me is losing electric.  National Grid has taken control of LIPA, but who knows if that's a blessing or a curse?  It's just very scary and super stressful to have to worry about losing power when temperatures are below freezing.  If that happens I will have no choice but to turn on the taps and evacuate to a shelter, which I have never had to do yet and which from what I've heard seems like the most dismal, depressing remedy to stay warm.

So, this is just a heads up that in the event that if I do lose power I will have to be away from running the shop, answering Etsy mail and shipping orders until electric is restored.  Please bear with me if that happens, and please say a prayer and keep your fingers and toes crossed that it doesn't. . 

*sigh*  I so hate winter.

RECENTLY LISTED!!!!

So you see, I've been busy of late in my never ending quest to bring you a large variety of adornments.  But I've been neglecting the men out there - and with an eye to Valentine's Day, just days away - I 've made some really nice, masculine leather bracelets for gifting to your special sweetie.

Each of these is handmade and has stainless steel beads and clasps, and braided leather, so they won't tarnish and will last a long time. 

 

And guys, if you're in between significant others, who says you can't treat yourself to one of these affordable, trendy, cool bracelets?  All the more better to attract that fair maiden with - lol!!

I got a boost today when I learned that Punxsutawney Phil crawled out this morning and did not see his shadow, signaling it will be an early spring.  WOOOOT!!  Personally, I've had enough of the damp, frigid, cloudy, windy weather we've had for a good portion of the winter.  I've had enough of nor'easters and no offense Canada, but I'm really not keen on sharing your arctic jet streams, or whatever they call them. The saving grace, if you can call it that, is a relative absence of white stuff - oh, we've had a few dustings and at most an inch or so, but nothing too bad - although we are due to get something tomorrow that might amount to some decent accumulation if the temperature plunges.

 

But enough weather speak - I need to say thank you to all my customers for their support and loyalty and for keeping me warm.  You guys are the best, and I appreciate you all very much.  I am so wound up with running the shop that I sometimes neglect to let you know that, but rest assured that I am ever grateful to you all even if I don't say so. And I also have to say thank you to my fellow Etsian's, who take time out of their daily to-do's to create all those awesome treasuries, but more importantly to thank y'all for including an item from my shop in them.  That, to me, is such an honor, and Thank you.  You know how busy we shopkeepers are, so you understand why I can't always get over to comment and promo the treasuries you tell me about - but I do get there eventually and I like to repay the favor by back linking to them here.  SO, for this year so far, thank you's go to

So that's about all for now.  On the horizon - new, multi strand leather bracelets and wraps!  How cool are these?  As soon as my supplies arrive, I will be making the bracelet on the right in all the shades of the rainbow (well, almost) and the wraps in black, white and brown - but of course, I can always make you a customized bracelet with the clasp, beads and leather color of your choosing!!
